Look no further because today you will find out how to get notifications for a wide variety of events on the Steem blockchain. Whatever kind of notification you might want to get on Steemit but can't, as they are non existent (at least not built in) chances are, that you can get them from GINABOT. She is here to solve all of the above mentioned problems and many more you didn't know existed before reading this post by providing notifications about events that you find interesting.

What is GINABOT?

@ginabot General Instant Notification Automaton is a powerful Discord notification bot made by @neander-squirrel that provides Steemians with seameless and instant notifications.

Currently, she can notify you about:

• Comments to you, from you, or deleted
• Transfers to and from you
• Incoming, Outgoing, and Return of Delegation
• Mention of specific user
• Resteems
• Follows
• Upvotes (made by you, or received)
• Downvotes
• Canceled upvotes
• New post from a specific user
• Blacklist a user or a tag
• Word Watch (when someone posted a specific word or phrase)
• New posts with a specific tag
• Witness approved or disapproved votes
• Witness Missed Blocks

How to set up GINABOT?

#1 Join Minnow Power Discord server and visit the #registration channel or just message GINAbot#0609directly with ..reg your_user_name

#2 Next, head over to your wallet and Send GINABOT 0.001 STEEM/SBD with the memo she provided. She will register you and return the STEEM/SBD you sent her.

After the transaction is confirmed, she will DM you with a link to the site where you can set up what exactly do you want to get notifications for. If, for some reason, you ever lose that link, you can always get it back by sending GINABOT a DM saying ..set steemit_username

#3 Follow the link and go through the settings to set them up by your needs.

General Settings

Activate notifications and depending on which Steem front-end you like to use and your location, select your prefered platform and the correct timezone.

Basic Settings

Select your desired settings for comments, transfers and delegation. These are mine, but depending on your needs, you may set them up differently.

I set it to receive notifications when someone comments on my posts, transfers funds to me or gives me a delegation. I suggest you keep self unchecked as it's completely unnecessary to receie notifications for it (unless you think someone is using your account on your behalf) then this would be a good way to notice it.

Getting notified when about new curation or author rewards is completely unnecessary because you can find it on Steemit quite easily and efficiently. I suggest you keep it off because it will only spam your chat if you post too much.

I've decided to get notifications when someone resteems my blog or follows me. Because I get a couple hundred upvotes per week, getting notifications for incoming would only spam my messages so I left it unchecked.

Here, I only decided to get notified when @dimimp posts, but in the future I'll add more people who's posts I don't want to miss.

The most useful of them all (at least for me)

Under tags you can select which tags you want to follow and Ginabot will notify you whenever someone posts using that specific tag. This is great for people who organise contests and want an easy way to instantly know when someone posted a new entry. I'm sure you will find other cool uses of this feature, but this is what I'll mostly use it for.

#4 Save Changes

And you are done. Congratz, now you will start getting notifications tailored to your needs! If you ever want to change your settings again but you misplaced or can't find the link just type Gina a DM saying ..set and she will reply with your link.

CONCLUSION

Ginabot is single handedly the most useful notification tool you will ever find on Steemit. It will cover all of your needs and if it doesn't, you can always suggest a new feature. Chances are, that if it's good, it will be implemented in the future. My hat goes down for Mr. @neander-squirrel who is the mastermind behind this amazing tool that is free to use for everyone!
