Hello everyone! I hope you guys all had a wonderful valentine. I am here with another great,inspiring story for #thegraycontest. So sit back and enjoy.

"Your IGCSE exams will start in two months. I hope you all have started preparing for it because as you all know,the 3 pupils with the best results get a full scholarship to a top university in the uk."the principal said with a smile on his face.

This is something i have always wanted. A scholarship. My family is going through a rough time now and i dont think my dad has the money to take me to a private university. But how will i be able to compete with A* students like joan,juliet and daniel? These three students are known for their outstanding performances and results. They were always going for competitions,solving the hard maths questions for us in class and reading non-stop.

Meanwhile,i was just an ordinary student. I always work hard but end up with B's and C's. I didnt know what i was doing wrong. I guess i was the only one worried about this scholarship because the other students came from wealthy families. They could easily get into the universities of their choice.

Days were passing and i was getting more nervous. I didnt even know where to start reading and how to start. Everything was just so overwhelming for me that i fell ill. I decided to give up..

On a good saturday morning,i was in my room thinking when my dad came in. He knew something was bothering me so he decided to come and ask me himself. I told him everything and got sad and start crying. He just hugged me gently and when i finished crying. He looked at me and said:

"Listen my child,i know what you are going through becuase i could relate to it but i dont want this to make you give up. Everyday we struggle with different things in life but we have to work hard to overcome it. This exam shouldn't make you so nervous because i know that you can do it. All you need to do is to work a little bit harder than usual and maybe stay awake alittle longer to read more. Even the smartest kids in your class worked for it. You dont know how many chapters they read in a day or how many questions they try answer but you have to admit that they were very hard working. So my child,if they can do it then what is stopping you from? You all have one brain,the same amount of hours in a day and the same resouces so why not compete with them? Challenge them, break out of your comfort zone and go an extra mile. With hard work and dedication,anything is possible.."

When he finished,he gave me a kiss on my forehead and stood up to leave. So i asked him:

"Dad,do you think i can win the scholarship?"

He looked at me and smiled then said
"When there is a will,there is a way" and left.

I didnt know what happened to me but my heart started pumping faster. Adrenaline was flowing and i became hyped up about the exam. I stopped sayying "i can" and started saying "i will".

I created a personal timetable,started reading more chapters per night and solving twice the questions i used to solve before. I even stopped some extra activites like going out on saturday just to say back and read more.
My dad was even kind enough to arrange some money to hire a tutor for me. I need to win this and i will try me best.

When the exams started,i said good bye to my good night sleep,i would remain awake till 2a.m studing for my exams and my dad will even leave the gen on so that i can see what i was doing properly.
I didnt give up. I needed this scholarship and when there is a will,there is a way..

3 months after the exams...

It was the day for result collection. I was so scared and nervous. But my dad told me that even if i dont win,he would still be proud of me because he knew i worked really hard for it.

When we got to the school,we headed to the principal's office. I stayed outside while my dad entered inside to collect the result. When he came out,he handed my results to me. I was soo scared to open it but he insisted i should. When i opened it, i felt like i was dream

Out of 5 subjects,

I got 4 A*

And 1 A

I wanted to blast off to the moon. I literally started crying out of happiness. Under the result was another paper attached. I thought it was a photocopy of the result but i was wrong...

It was an admission letter from the university of oxford!!! I WON the scholarship. I did it,i have achieved my goal...

This is a story about encourgement. If you need to help someone,help them by encourging them.motivate them to do it. Tell them they are capable of doing it and watch them achieve their goals. If my dad didnt encourage me and motivate me to do it,do you think i will have made it? All it takes is hardwork,dedication and you should believe in yourself and trust me, you will be able to overcome any task.no matter how hard it is.Because:
