Amazon Merch Taking Steps to Protect Your Designs | New Wrinkle Effect

Hey Merch Sellers, some of you may have noticed this already, while some of you this may be the first time your hearing of it.

Amazon Merch announced on the backend of your Merch dashboard recently that...

"To provide additional protection against the copying of your original artwork and to add a more natural look for your products, we are adding a wrinkle effect to product detail page sales images. Accounts will be enabled on a rolling basis starting today and the effect will only be applied to new submissions and edits of standard fit t-shirts."

Why is this happening?

Currently many people are stealing tee shirt designs off Amazon. They take a screenshot of your design, remove the background in photoshop and clean up the image a bit and they reupload it as their own to Merch or other tee shirt platforms like Teespring, Redbubble, Teepublic, etc, etc, etc. To prevent this from happening Amazon is putting a wrinkle effect over your design to make this more difficult for copycats to do.

When is it happening?

This is happenning on a "rolling basis" as Amazon does with most things. This means it starts off with the higher tiers and slowly rolls out to the rest of us. I'm currently at tier 1,000 and it has not hit me yet.

Is it good or bad?

I suppose that's subjective. It's good to see that Amazon is doing more to protect our images and our designs, however some sellers are complaining that it's negatively affecting the look of their shirts on the Amazon platform.
