Think Before You Throw Things Away
Recently one of my neighbours was getting rid of her fire surround, because she wanted to go 'modern'.
Now she was going to put it out in the alley for the binmen to take until I talked her into keeping it for a few more weeks. This lady is in her 80's and not on the internet.
The fire surround was the original solid oak one from when the houses were built in the Edwardian period of the 1920's. Not to everybody's taste but hey ho, we all like different things.
I took a few photo's of it and posted it up on various selling sites.
Then came along a lady that lived 200 miles away, she had been looking for the perfect fire surround for her old house for TWO YEARS!!! She had been to see various different one's but none quite had what she was looking for. She fell in love with this one the moment she saw it and promptly offered £450 for it.
I made two people very happy that day, thanks to the internet, but the moral of the story is, please think before you throw things away.
Wow! The woman will not forget the impact of Internet in a hurry. Thanks for your kindness.
