Kiki's Delivery Service (Analysis)
Continuing with the reviews / opinions of the films of the Ghibli studio, it is the turn of "Kiki's Delivery Service", each time advancing more in these and hoping that they like it with the same intensity. So let's start
Independence, is the word she would use to describe this film, Kiki is a little witch who is about to start a test, a test that all people of her kind must perform to be formalized as professionals in their field. Kiki lives in a small town where she has many friends, but she will have to get away from them in order to complete her training as a witch and thus be like her mother.
The beginning for her is somewhat uncertain, due to the difficulties she has even when trying to fly her broom, however, she adapts with the young age of 13 years, together with her cat friend Jiji they go on an adventure that it will change the life
Through the film, it is observed how Kiki matures, not only in the work aspect, but also in relation to herself. When the problem arises and Kiki becomes discouraged, it is when she asks herself why she is doing what she is doing, what motivates her, what is her inspiration? It is interesting to see also how it takes the issue of independence, because when Kiki arrives alone, and must adapt to a world completely unknown to her. With this we see the teaching that history entails: learning to trust in ourselves despite adversity.
When we talk about Japanese animation cinema, and in particular that of Miyazaki, it is fair to announce that it is a cinematographic creative genius that uses acetate instead of flesh and blood characters to reveal its inner world. In "Kiki's Delivery Service", Miyazaki opted for a more western story (as he did with Heidi or Marco) than other works, such as "Princess Mononoke" or "Spirited Away", in which the magical-pantheistic aura takes the average European spectator very confused. Hayao Miyazaki and the Ghibli studios set off with this film their characters and dream worlds and invent a modern story that tries to break with the stereotypical figure of the witches. Good feelings, plot clarity, a spark of imagination and a nice black kitten are the ingredients of the film.
