IDEA: STEEMAVG
Problem:
- There isn't a one or two step way for current and future steemians to look up the global average of STEEM across all exchanges weighted by volume.
Solution:
- STEEMAVG.com (use this temp link for a POC) aims to provide a one or two step global average of the price in three ways.
steemavg.com - a website to allow users to type in a STEEM amount and instantly see the average price across all exchanges (preev.com). There is an added hidden feature that allows users to add a question mark followed by a steem quantity eg. "?50" to the url and the price instantly shows up on the site.
If steemavg.com is an external simple solution for STEEM price averages, then @steemavg (requested, but don't have it yet) is the internal solution. When a user adds a tag steemavg to their post, the steemavg bot will comment on the post with an average price across all exchanges weighted by volume along with a time stamp.
For a more personal approach, steemavg.com will add a feature allowing Steemians to look up the average value of their wallet and identify the best exchange to trade.
- There are a few similar steemit sites, but I think that the quick url price lookup and the steemavg bot will provide added value in the current ecosystem of steem tools.
Success:
- Steemavg.com will be successful if it can cover web hosting and feature expansion costs.
POC:
Tested on:
- Windows, Chrome: OK
- Mac, Chrome: OK, some spacing issues
- Mac, Safari: OK, some spacing issues
- iOS iPad Pro: OK
- iOS iPad, iPhone: Needs work
Will post more notes here when I get time.
Notes:
I mentioned an ugly url, because this is my first time using Amazon AWS for cloud storage. If anyone knows how to link a custom domain to a bucket, I would love to hear from you.
This is one of two projects I've been cooking up. I hope to post about the other one soon!
Someone made a comment about a steemit logo from my older posts. I revisited the logo and realized it would be perfect for this project. The logo literally averages the colors of a rocky sea scape, and the project is all about averages! : )
POC looks good on desktop browsers, but needs work on mobile devices.
A great idea but the steem and usd section overlaps on my iPad so it is unreadable. Looking forward to the finished POC 🙂
Hi Ruben. Sounds great!
