ICO: MANNA'S CROWDFUND ICO IS LIVE

I want to share a picture from one of my last stories while I worked for Bitcoin Magazine.

I was covering the Swarm Demo Day in Menlo Park, CA November 2014.

I stayed at Joel Dietz's house (founder of Swarm Fund) and got to meet the founder of Storj (decentralized cloud storage), Manna (decentralized drone delivery), Judobaby (video game franchise), and other blackchain projects.

Eric Smalls, the second gentleman from the left, showed me the program he wrote to scheduled routes for drones on a google maps from his laptop that night.

Fast foward 3 years later, Smalls has launched an ICO for his project that creates the software and protocol for blockchain based drone delivery. Here is a video of a MANNA drone flight.

When he contacted me and shared his pitch deck, I wondered if this project would run into issues (with the FAA being the overlords of flight), but recent development have created an avenue for MANNA to launch (here and here).

After reading the white paper, the problem Smalls and his team are trying to solve are next level.

Manna is looking to use cryptocurrencies and smart contracts to physically ship goods anywhere with drones.

There are a lot of questions to answer for the following scenarios

• What happens when drones are cross borders
• What happens when drones have to travel across large bodies of water.
• Will an insurance dApp industry rise to insure packages that are damaged due to weather or vandalism?
• Can Manna use AI to determine the route with the least risk of damage?
• How well are the contents sealed in a temperature and pressure sensitive chamber?
• Can the storage container be used for takeout?
• Can I start a route from my phone and change it from my computer?
• Can the Manna network be used to ship goods to victims of natural catastrophies?

All these questions don't negate the fact that there is a large market for decentralized shipping. We'll see if Manna has what it takes.

When I asked Smalls if he would consider using EOS when the project is live he responded with this:
