COLOR CHALLENGE: MONDAY RED
I.
The barking dog
So eager to startle
Assuming there is such
A thing as territory
One foot tresspasses
Four legs wander
It is just humans moving across
Earth’s bedding
The children sneak through
The neighbor’s yard
The neighbor, grey and old,
Doesn’t try
The young neighbor musters the strength
To yell until he doesn’t see anybody
They teach us to ask
When speaking of things
So painful one tends
To look away
So I ask of you
May I continue?
Or would you rather
I change subjects?
II.
I took a break from wine for a time
It took a break from me
And stopped knocking on my lips
It travelled from a cellar
Just beyond the sea
And now is stored on tounges
Its buzz squats my flats
As doesn’t look back
Yards couldn’t contain this party
It comes and knows
Like a philosophy club
It still has a weakness for glassware
Wonderful it was to read really beautifully written :)
red is good and your poem too.
