The moor in our valley is a remnant of the Ice Age, as the Chiemsee was a vast lake, at least three times its current size.

Das Moor in unserem Tal ist ein Überbleibsel der Eiszeit, denn der Chiemsee war danach ein riesiger See, mindestens dreimal so groß wie seine heutige Größe.At that time this entire area was underwater, and now it is a bog meadow with swampy wetland areas. There are well maintained trails that crisscross the moor. Although it is close by, it is a different world from our Alpine landscapes. Zu dieser Zeit befand sich dieses ganze Gebiet unter Wasser, und jetzt ist es eine Moorwiese mit sumpfigen Feuchtgebieten. Es gibt gepflegte Wege, die kreuz und quer durch das Moor führen. Obwohl es in der Nähe ist, ist es eine ganz andere Welt als unsere alpine Landschaft.This area always takes me back to memories of the tundra of Alaska, that I experienced during the three years I spent there as an adolescent. You might think you could simply walk through the moor, but it is often marsh and wetlands. Dieser Bereich führt mich immer wieder zurück zu Erinnerungen an die Tundra von Alaska, die ich während meines dreijährigen Aufenhalts als Jugendlicher dort erlebt habe. Man könnte meinen, dass es leicht wäre, einfach durch das Moor zu gehen, aber man täuscht sich.

Now the long grass is brown, and only a few leaves remain on the trees. Nonetheless, there is beauty in the nakedness of the trees.Jetzt ist das lange Gras braun, und nur noch wenige Blätter bleiben auf den Bäumen. Nichtsdestotrotz gibt es Schönheit in der Nacktheit der Bäume.As I studied them, they reminded me of representations of the human vascular system, the wiring of brains, or even a road atlas.Als ich sie betrachtete, erinnerten sie mich an Darstellungen des menschlichen Gefäßsystems, an die Vernetzung des Gehirns oder sogar an eine Straßenkarte.

Regardless of the question, in nature there is a better chance of finding the answer. Egal welche Frage, in der Natur hat man eine bessere Chance die Antwort zu finden.
