Will Cryptocurrencies Survive A World War?
The increasing tensions between North Korea and the United States have a strong impact on the global market, especially on classical assets. But for the blockchain, events like these pass unnoticeably.
Last month a drop in US stock prices continued for three consecutive days. The Washington Post reported them as the worst stock exchange days for the entire 2017. The drop in prices of various stocks was felt in the UK and also in Europe.
The very nature of the blockchain is such that it should not have sharp spikes in volatility caused by tension and anxiety from the real world. Meanwhile, the prices of all digital currencies continued to grow without being influenced by what is happening in the non-digital world.
Cryptocurrencies have their own peaks and dips that depend on internal factors. Digital currency prices are not affected that much by external events and will not be affected by the occurrence of global negative events.

I think the MAJOR reason for this is the result of the higher level of communication - and TRUE information; as opposed to "fake news" - which is facilitated by blockchain tech. Think about it, how much more informed do you feel about what is going on in the world right now in places where you have been coerced to believe, by the "fakestream" media, that the population of people is against you? This is one of the MOST TRANSFORMATIVE features of blockchain, I believe - and ESPECIALLY the blockchain social media apps like SteemIt. The MAIN way that the "media mafia" is able to put people, and nations, against each other is to manipulate the media and public opinion. Blockchain tech is allowing the mass public minimize this sinister global mind-control agenda, and allow people to communicate on more fair terms...
Really good analysis. It's a true fact that 99.99% of the Earth's population wants peace and basic human needs. And it seems the blockchain can deliver us from the so-called fakesream media, as you called it. The decentralization that is emerging right now from the crypto communities can be a real solution to many things that are wrong in the world today, manipulating the public opinion is just one of them. Steemit also has huge potential, merely because contrary to other social media the content is much more "pure" and it allows people to connect in a new way.
Keeping in mind that crypto users are still a small percentage of the population. In my opinion any negative scenario for the currency markets will favor the crypto users. The great wars have historically been accompanied by collapses in the markets. Even that does not mean that I would like it to happen.
I think cryptocurrencies prices are related with real economy, but the correlation is weak and like gold the trend is the opposite of the rest of economy.
After the next world war we probable have no access to computers and other tech stuff, we will be lucky if we find a piece of unspoiled soil to dig some potatoes.
