Poson perahera | an unforgettable night 🙏

As I said earlier, Poson perahera was held in our village temple last saturday night as well. It was a new experience for the people of our village as well as the people of nearby villages.

My elder sister and her children came to watch the perahera , so we thought of walking to the Aluthwala junction. The perahera was supposed to start at 9.30 p.m. Even when we went to the temple at around 7 p.m., there were many people gathered nearby, so we went there exactly at 9.30 p.m. after having dinner.

When we got to the Aluthwala junction, there was so much traffic that there was no place to stay. But by the time the perahera started, it was after 11 p.m., so we felt a bit uncomfortable.

The day perahera as well as the night perahera were very beautiful and festive. It was special that there were many items that were not seen the day before Perahera.

For this, dance items were provided from many areas, like Kataragama, Devinuwara, Ratnapura, Kandy, etc.

Almost every aspect was very interesting. Especially the dancing costumes of the dance items were excellently designed.

Among those items, the most interesting were fire balls, tambourines, and cane dances. The whole perahera consisted of 58 items, and in it you could see dances unique to each region, such as upcountry dances, lowcountry dances, Sabaragamuwa, etc.
After watching the perahera for almost 3 hours, we left in the midst of heavy rain. However, it was a different kind of unforgettable experience.
