My Hubby's Special Birthday - 登陸了 - Can you guess his age?

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Today is my Hubby's Birthday! Yay!

Join me Steemians, because this is the first year we can celebrate with Steemians as I joined only 2 weeks ago.

This year is a special year indeed!

As soon as I woke up, I said to Ray:  "You 登陸了!"

Can you guess his age?

You are probably wondering what "登陸了" means in English?

If we take the literal translation of  "登陸了" to English, it literally means you have 'landed".

I know, it sounds a bit strange.

Right away, we think of the Normandy landing on D-day marking the single most important event in WWII for Europe resulting in the freedom of France.

In that sense, reaching this age has a certain important element to it.

Hong Kong people use this phrase "登陸了" when a person reaches this age.

In fact, when they say 「登陸 」 landing     - they are saying the person has reached   「登六」meaning landed on the '6'.

The chinese word  「陸 」has exactly the same pronunciation as 「 」, and that is why they say when the person reaches this age, he has 登了.

Can you now guess his age?

  • 16?
  • 26?
  • 36?
  • 46?
  • 56?
  • 60?
  • 66?

Which one do you think it is?

I will leave it to your imagination and you can comment below and tell me your answer!

Special Suckling Pig Stuffed with Glutinous Rice

To celebrate with Ray, we are having this suckling pig stuffed with glutinous rice and XO sauce!

Glutinous rice stuffed in the suckling pig is a specialty for special occasions for holding wedding, birthday or anniversary parties.

According to the chef of this restaurant, he says that this impressive dish is not difficult to make at all.

I asked him: "How long does it take to roast this piglet in the oven?"

He said:  "About 5 hours at 60 degrees.

Procedure to Cut the Piglet

When you look at it like the roasted piglet in the pan, it doesn't look very appetizing.  There is a procedure you need to take.

1.  Use scissors to cut the skin of the piglet

2.  As you continue on scissoring, the glutinous rice will spread out creating a beautiful looking dish.

3.  Voila!

Happy Birthday Sweetheart!  Yum Yum!

We can only share this on the net with our Steemian friends.   One day, when we have a gathering, I will order this suckling piglet stuffed with glutinous rice for you all so that we can eat it together.

A Little Tip for you:  Eat this with XO Sauce.

Tonight we also ate some of our favorite dishes.

We still had room for ice-cream to finish the Birthday Meal.

P.S.  Tell me how old he is!

Sort:

My guess is 46. Not that he doesn't look younger, but it seems that the two of you have had time to be successful enough to travel freely!

You are all too kind. He is not 46. Older. Guess again. We travel on a shoe string so that we can go to all these places. (Do you notice that I am always wearing the same stuff?) Anyways, all this need to change so that I can take better photos for Steemians to enjoy.

I am guessing your husband is 46. Love the photos, especially the one with you and your husband through the glass!

Thank you @theninthart. Yes I created that photo "time in a bottle". We are counting down and not counting anymore. Not 46. Guess again.

great content! and thanks again for following!

Resteemed your article. This article was resteemed because you are part of the New Steemians project. You can learn more about it here: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@gaman/new-steemians-project-launch

haha! It's interesting. I will guess 60. Not because your husband looks like 60, he looks definitely younger than 60. For Chinese people, the multiple of 10 should be more meaningful since you mention about HK.
