Audacity Tutorial: Use Expand Feature When Audio strip is long
Contribution to the Audacity Open Source Program
For the last while, I have been helping people to do excellent audio sounds as they upload their video tutorial onto the Utopian platform.
We want to upgrade our video in Utopian to professional level. This will make our site different from the many amateur videos in You tube.
I am thankful that many people find this series of audacity tutorial very helpful.
I am very straightforward and get to the point in the video and do not want to put in a lot of unnecessary fluff in there.
Some beginners have told me that they are stuck in seeing their wave files as they try to clean up their audio background noise.
Everything is all squished together!
What to do?
They can't see the inside waves at all.
Step 1: Upload your audio strip in audacity
Upload your audio strip in wav format into the audacity program.
Step 2: Use the Expand feature - Zoom In
If your audio strip is long, you can see that the waves are squished together.
When they are squished together, you can't do anything. You can't clean up the audio file at all.
You need to use the EXPAND feature to ZOOM in to stretch out your waves so that you can see your waves clearly.
When they are squished together, you can't see the waves at all and you can't clean up the audio waves at all.
A lot of people get stuck here because they don't know how to get the noise profile when the wav file is long.
Use the EXPAND Zoom in Feature!!!!
While this is straightforward, people get stuck here and that's why I do this video for beginners.
The Expand Feature will let you Zoom in.
Result 1 : You can now see the background waves there after Expansion
Here you see the noise wavs there very clearly
Result 2: Look at the audio strip when noise wav is cleaned out:
Video Tutorial
Watch the video tutorial to see how I Expand and Zoom in to see the actual waves in the audio file clearly.
You can see the noise waves ONLY when it is expanded.
You can see the waves all cleaned out when it is expanded.
Always use the ZOOM in EXPAND!
