2017 Audi A4 Quattro Prestige Review

Having recently taken delivery of a 2017 Audi A4 Prestige; I am compelled to write the following review. At the time of this composition I've had the vehicle for just about three months and I simply LOVE IT! I'm a huge technology fanatic and the Audi A4 comes with an abundance of tech. The dynamic LED lighting that adorns the exterior, to the virtual cockpit that provides the driver with everything he or she needs to understand the current operating conditions of the trip. And let us not forget: Apple CarPlay.

Exterior

The 2017 Audi A4 is, quite literally, a beautiful machine! The sporty lines of the Prestige trim, combined with the bold statement made by the 19" wheels; the 2017 Audi A4 easily turns heads even among a stable of far more expensive autos.

Interior

Front Seats

Inside of the 2017 Audi A4 Prestige is an absolute pleasure to experience. The driver and passenger seats fit snugly and allow you to modify various aspects of the feel so that things are just the way that you like them. At the time of this writing we're kind of still in the winter months, so I'm rolling with the all-weather mats to protect the underlying carpet. The driver is provided with the wonderfully implemented virtual cockpit that provides all manner of information relative to the driving experience. The solution is almost infinitely configurable and is complemented by yet another large, bright display in the middle of the dashboard.

Rear Seats

Candidly, the rear passengers don't get much leg room. It's a small vehicle after all. But for those passengers that are smaller in stature, not requiring much by way of leg room the rear setting is comfortable, supple, and offers many of the creature comforts we've come to expect in a luxury automobile.

Climate Control System

The climate control system in the 2017 Audi A4 Prestige does a fine job of moving the environmental feel into alignment with the occupant's wishes. The "analog" dials for adjusting the climate inside of the vehicle have a really fantastic touch added to them in that there are digital readouts embedded within the knobs to inform you of the current temperature selection.

Vehicle Information and Infotainment

Rounding out the experience, for me, is Apple CarPlay. The 2017 Audi A4 also supports Android Auto, but for me that technology has no significance, as I'm ALL IN on the iOS ecosystem.

Driving Experience

One of the most amazing things about the 2017 Audi A4 is just how different the driving experience can be modeled. There are a number of modes into which you can place the experience, multiplied by two different drive functions, better known as 'D' and 'S'. These factors combined lead to a fun range of capabilities, with tame and relaxing at the bottom of the scale to its alter ego: sharp and exhilarating.

Conclusion

Prior to the last three months my household had been an ALL Acura (Honda) household. For the past sixteen years we've owned nothing else. We were happy with the automobiles, both exterior and exterior, and firmly believed that there was nothing in the class of our vehicles that could surpass what we had become used to. The epiphany: German engineered automobiles are engineered better. There is no question that the ride, handling, and all around performance are all simply better. The technology found in the Audi is also beyond anything else in its class. In order to keep some level of balance I should also comment on my wife's choice in a new automobile. Having driven a number of different brands over a 45 day period I was surprised by her selection. Her choice: the 2017 Cadillac XT5. Is American automobile manufacturing continuing its resurgence? Perhaps. Those that know us still cannot believe that Michelle chose Cadillac over Acura.
