# 304 - Capitol Visitor
Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Dollar series, we will present you today the 2001 "Capitol Visitor" graded by PCGS PR70 DCAM.
All coins of this series weight 26.73g with 90% silver purity. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
They will be presented in the order they were minted.
This coin was issued as part of the commemorative coin program authorized for the proposed Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, DC.
The obverse of the coin presents an image of the original Capitol with the date “1800” and the later Capitol with the date “2001”.
The reverse of the coin depicts a heraldic eagle with shield and rays emanating around.
A total of 143,793 coins were minted in Philadelphia. The issue price was U$33.00. The actual price is around U$225.00 in this grade.

Very nice coin. I don't remember seeing coins at the DC visitor center and I was there right around 2001. Maybe I wasn't paying good enough attention as that was the very beginning of my stacking adventure.
