# 256 - Paralympics
Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Dollar series, we will present you today the 1996-D "Paralympic" graded by PCGS MS70.
All coins of this series weight 26.73g with 90% silver purity. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
They will be presented in the order they were minted.
This coin was issued as part of an ambitious range of commemorative coins issued for the XXVI Olympiad Summer Games held in Atlanta, Georgia.
The obverse of the coin features an athlete in a wheelchair competing in a track and field event.
The reverse features a design used in common for all of the 1996 Olympic Silver Dollars issued, a modernistic Olympic torch. The base of the torch is created with the number “100” representing the centennial and the Olympic logo.
A total of 14,497 coins were minted in Denver. The issue price was U$31.95. The actual price is around U$325.00 in this grade.
This series will continue very soon.

I like to watch wheelchair running in the Paralympic Games. They are real athletes!
It is a show of overcoming a disability and proving that you are as good as any other athlete.
