# 248 - Soccer Half Dollar
Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Half Dollar series, we will present you today the 1996-S "Soccer" graded by PCGS PR70 DCAM.
All coins of this series weight 11.34g with 91.67% copper and 8.33% nickel. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
They will be presented in the order they were minted.
This coin was part of ambitious coin program issued for the XXVI Olympiad Summer Games held in Atlanta, Georgia.
The obverse of the coin was designed by Clint Hansen and features two women playing soccer.
The reverse features the Olympic Flame, Olympics logo, and “100” arranged in the form of a torch. The year marked the 100th anniversary of the first modern Olympic Games.
A total of 112,412 coins were minted in San Francisco. The issue price was U$12.50. The actual price is around U$340.00 in this grade.
