# 231 - Civil War
Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Dollar series, we will present you today the 1995-S "Civil War" graded by PCGS PR70 DCAM.
All coins of this series weight 26.73g with 90% silver purity. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
They will be presented in the order they were minted.
This coin was issued to commemorate 100 years of Civil War battlefields preservation. This is dated from the establishment of the Gettysburg National Military Park in 1895.
The obverse of the coin features a soldier offering a canteen to another wounded soldier.
The reverse features the Gettysburg landscape and a quote from Joshua Chamberlain, who fought in the battle.
A total of 437,114 coins were minted in San Francisco. The issue price was U$34.00. The actual price is around U$375.00 in this grade.
