Why the kardashians are still relevant

We all know the current events our world is facing as of now, trump becoming president, global warming is higher than ever, natural disasters happening everywhere but a current one and one that we should all be paying attention is the kardashians. What would life be without them? The entertainment business would never be the same. The kardashians are an iconic figure for teens , adults , the elderly etc. Almost everyone knows who they are due to their real butts and lips and we can't forget their curves.
Kim Kardashian was the first to gain media attention as a friend and stylist of Paris Hilton, but received wider notice after a 2003 tape with her former boyfriend Ray J was leaked in 2007. Later that year, she and her family began to appear in the E! Network's reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Now you may be asking yourself that’s it? Anyone could be famous if they knew the right people. Well the kardashians from the beginning were going to be destined for the spotlight when kris jenner married robert kardashian who played in a series on fx. Then kris kardashian married bruce jenner who was an olympian.
These five women — Kim, Khloé, Kourtney, Kylie, Kendall — and their mother, Kris, have completely redefined what it means to be famous. In their case, no, they didn’t come to prominence because of any particular talent. Khloé even admitted to this in 2011 on Barbara Walters’ annual "10 Most Fascinating People" special. They don't really do anything except...exist. In what should henceforth be known as the Kardashian Paradox, the Kardashians and Jenners are famous because they’re talented at being famous. The New York Times put it a bit more bluntly in its May 2015 profile of family puppeteer and brand engineer Kris Jenner: "They are famous for the industry that they’ve created, the Kardashian/Jenner megacomplex, which has not just invaded the culture but metastasized into it.
The Kardashians and Jenners invite followers into their worlds, turning their daily existences into content for fans to consume. They have convinced the world that they are, in fact, interesting, because 2 million of us can't look away when their show airs each week. Every part of their lives is commodified, every moment a marketing opportunity. There’s a good chance that they’re all just native advertising people. As of this writing, Kim Kardashian West, Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner have a combined 304 million followers on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. That’s rapidly approaching the population of the the United States which is 318 million.
That’s another thing that strikes people about the Kardashians and Jenners — and something that came up time and time again when I asked my friends who admitted to being fans what they like about the stars. It’s obvious that the Kardashians and Jenners fiercely control their own narratives, with each life event revealed in such a way that nets ratings for keeping up with the kardashians or benefits the family in some other way. Nevertheless, at the end of the day, the love and support they show for one another seems genuine, even amid all that master manipulation. In the landscape of loathsome reality TV personalities who trade on being jerks, the Kardashians stand out for being likable and, in their way, surprisingly down to earth in their relationships with one another.
You may still may be asking yourself why do the kardashians matter? I ask myself the same question. Raise your hand if you are following of the the kardashians on instagram, Snapchat, twitter, or any other social media? i do, and I don't think I can tell you why. There's a certain fascination with the glam and rich lifestyle of all the kardahsian/jenners. Do I really care what Kylie Jenner puts in her ramen? No! But I find it interesting, because well, she's Kylie Jenner.
