HORIZON. painting. Ibiza 2017.
Horizonte. 122x90cm. Acrylic on wood. Ibiza 2017.
This is a more recent painting of mine.
I live on an island and can see the sea from home.
It´s two minutes walk to the coast.
It´s a bay and on one side there is a town and a small port.
I walk a lot along the coast, one way or the other it´s my way into town.
I´m always attracted to this mysterious line the sea draws.
The sun sets on the line I see every evening.
It always reveals a longing to explore and sail out.
Some days I can see Spain when it´s windy and the day is clear.
Some days we get sand storms from Sahara covering us all in yellow mud.
The horizon is a reference point.
A reference, that like all others, moves, depending on where you are.
It also tells me where I am in my labyrinth.
I remember a line by Hundertwasser, one of my favourite people ever.
He said : The horizontal belongs to nature, the vertical to man.
Best wishes to you all,

Nice composition of words and painting. :)
I see it as a interaction of all four elements, water, sky(air), which are clear in form and color. They are framed with the fire and earth(both shape and color). For me, it is life as tangible as the line of the horizon that symbolizes changes depending on individual perspective.
Thank you Mirjana for your input. You are right. The change is so constant that is seems imperceptible, till memory in time shows us.
That's a great line and a beautiful painting!
And I enjoy reading your additional thoughts, always.
Thanks Sabina!
