1964 90% silver change

in #silver10 years ago

1964 or older change has 90% silver content.

Most people have no clue that any quarter, dime, or 50 cent piece prior to 1965 are 90% silver. If you are not lucky enough to find any in the change from your last local grocery store visit you can always head over to Ebay and bid on some. The going rate is usually about 14 times the face value. So for example if you bought ten 1964 dimes they would cost you around $14.00

So next time you visit your local store pay more attention to the change you get back. You might just be surprised.

Yeah I was lucky enough to find a silver quarter several weeks ago. Needed some change for the parking meter and noticed one of the quarters I was going to feed felt and looked different so I looked at the date and it was 1964. I was surprised, but every once in a while you get lucky. You can also keep pre-1982 pennies for the copper. A copper penny is worth 1.4 cents! You can look it up here Coinflation.com It was worth much more before the commodities downturn recently. But both gold & silver prices seems to be turning up as of late!

I was also collecting pre 1982 pennies but ended up selling them. Unless we are ever allowed to melt them down (currently illegal) I don't see this ever having value.
