I have started dabbing into videos lately as part of my developing and learning on Steemit. I think videos and dtube are great to watch lively fun stuff that's why I use it to bring my travel posts to live. I prefer it as a form of supplementary entertainment.

For more serious stuff ie channel of expression, I think words are still better. I like the option to read, stop and digest, that can be difficult with dtube especially if you have a bad connection or when the platform is unstable. It also sucks up less bandwidth than video when I'm out. Videos can be difficult for those who's first language aren't English or if the presenter has an accent or don't speak clearly as not all good writers are good presenters.

As to contents on dtube (sorry please allow me to rant a little whilst I'm here), you do get a lot of shit content as people just throw any rubbish on hoping to get a juicy upvote from dtube. Watching people do a plank is like watching paint dry on the wall is a classic recent example.

But back to your question, I'm not sure if dtube viewing trend has anything to do with how well received your video will be, perhaps your followers will welcome an alternative form of communication, and maybe you will enjoy making the video yourself!

I recently listened to a few of @exyle's vlogs there to get some basic understanding of the latest Steem related drama, whilst doing other stuff. I do this with lots of youtube channels as well because.. of a constant need for distraction perhaps? And I can't read all the time.

Not sure it helps much but that's my limited perspective on this. I think the videos seems to buffer more reliably now than like six months ago when I last tried Dtube, so that's something!

I hope you don't stop writing. I only just discovered you yesterday after seeing some of your answers on musing.io. Some of them gave me some timely laughs that were much needed after a busy day. I have thought about digging into dtube a little more myself. I felt like it might give some validity to what I was writing about. I was thinking maybe my personality doesn't come across the way I think it does in my writing. Maybe I need to branch out and show my followers a little more of me.

Then I think, no one wants to see my ugly mug or hear my goofy voice, so why would I do that. Personally, I've also had some technical issues with dtube in the past that makes me hesitant to dive in with it. I've heard it from other people too, sometimes they don't play or they are all messed up. I am sure they are just small technical glitches, but it has definitely been a barrier for me.

I am not one to jump out of my comfort zone and I am a horrible public speaker though I have been told the opposite by colleagues. I anticipate seeing what you do moving forward! Good luck with your decision whatever it ends up being.

Hey, I appreciate the comment... never know for sure if I’m just being a smartass with some of those Musing replies, so great to hear they’re being appreciated... :-)

Yeah, for sure. I have been hanging around musing for a while now. Even before they got their big delegation. Some of the questions that get asked on there you can't do much but shake your head and craft the wittiest answer possible. :)

Lol.

Yeah, there seem to be a steady stream which trigger me to question the, “there’s no such thing as a stupid question” stance... 😈

Hah! That is very true. It took all the restraint I could muster when the batch of "should I sleep with my sibling" questions came out a week or so ago...

And there, the wonder whether they’re being serious or merely trolling...

For sure!

I watch videos if they're posted on dtube and linked into a Steemit post. Otherwise, I don't really use it. I would consider using it more if there were more videos available, and if they loaded better. As it is, Youtube is still a preferable option if it's posted there as well. I hear there's momentum for improving dtube, so that could be good news for decentralized video viewing!

Hey Rok, a lot of dtubers do watch vlogs and I can say I am part of them too. But sincerely, I have one particular question which has same trait as yours which is; Is it possible to incorporate views into the dtube platform? Where vloggers get feedback on the data analysis of viewers rather than the $$ sign we are used too. Meanwhile, bear in mind that I am not postulating cancelling upvote but adding a view button to the platform which has several opportunities:

Watch this I talked about importances/opportunities of views on dtube
I apologized for the link in your comment and sorry for poor video but the content is really worth it trust me Rok.

I've tried the dtube for a while to host videos but I found their IPFS upload and streaming to be not very reliable. I've given up on it and went back to Youtube for the time being. Hopefully they will improve on that as dtube gets more popular.

Maybe you would be the first d.tuber I watch. I think the feed of d.tube is not that inspiring. I looked for some people to follow but I feel like I couldn't find quality content.

Hi rok. I can't help you on this either as I can't recall the last dTube video I watched. It will be interesting to see if you get a response from someone.

Every time I try to post something to dtube it doesn't stream or streaming is extremely slow. I've given up for now.
