Happy New Year! (and some personal thoughts on 2017)
Yet again has the rounds completed around the Sun variable of the Gregorian calendar been incremented and yet again we celebrate a supposedly new beginning! So happy new year to all! I have really enjoyed being part of this community and I wish all my new steemian friends and acquaintances all the best on all fronts of life.
I've read some enlightening and enjoyable posts, I've learned a bunch of new things, I've argued and discussed things like politics, vegetarianism and religion, I've seen and listened to some great artistic stuff and I've gotten to know in one way or another a number of pleasant and fascinating individuals. I would love to keep doing that together with the steem community in 2018 too and I would love to see the price of steem keep climbing. But most of all, I'd love to see this blockchain prove that it's sustainable, providing monetary rewards for a wide variety of creators and contributors that deserve them.
And now to the more real part of this post...
To be honest, it's been kind of weird and exhausting year for me, especially at the tail end and despite the arbitrariness of the date, I'm still relieved to be able to mark a new beginning. 2017 gave me a lot of good memories and I also discovered this awesome platform in May, but it also came with a lot of stress, worries, problems to solve and a number of personal shortcomings. I have a lot to work on in 2018...
I'm not satisfied with myself and what I managed to achieve in 2017, but incrementing that number to 2018 is oddly refreshing and allows me to shove all bad thoughts aside and to come at life with new vigor despite being hungover from last night's celebrations.
I'm not going to do any resolutions for 2018 as looking at my 2017 ones and not having achieved most of them is not a nice feeling. But I am going to strive to make 2018 better, more successful and happier than 2017 and I'm sure it's also going to present me with some wonderful experiences, learning and growing opportunities, and new chances to be successful.
Happy New Year again! ^^ It is exciting to think about opportunities blockchain might provides us with and Steem going to the Moon! There is going to be much more to learn and there will be chaos too, but fun at the same time.
We all have our shortcomings, but we have to keep going and try to do what we can. I also have good feeling about 2018.

I think you can give yourself at least a small pat on the back for your efforts here on Steemit. You've certainly tried to 'add value', be upbeat and offer a helping hand ..........and all without being self-congratulatory about it.

Thanks, I appreciate the encouraging words! :) I'm mainly positive and I'll try to fix what I haven't done correctly in the past and hopefully manage to continue what has been OK.
I am not one that makes new year resolutions. Although this year I'm setting a few goals for a change. Still, i had awesome years without resolutions, just had a desire for growth and greatness. I wish all the best in 2018e
