#walkwithme at Ebb and Flow on the Jacks Fork River with @hethur240 and @hangrydwarf!

in #walkwithme6 years ago

The other day we had some beautiful weather come in before some ice and cold hit, so my husband @hangrydward and our friend @hethur240 decided to take advantage of it! So we hit the dusty trail just a few miles down the road from my house and hiked around Ebb and Flow, a part of the Jacks Fork River. I put together a few collages to help minimize the pictures, while still showing you all of the amazing fun we had and beauty that we found.

The first collage is of the river and everyone just relaxing in this beautiful place. @hethur240 brought her pups Emma and Willy. Willy likes to rape your face if you give him a chance and as you can see, @hangrydwarf was easy pickings! There's also a picture of @hangrydwarf about to skip a huge rock, which did in fact skip once or twice! Then there are random pictures of us searching through the rocks, standing by downed trees caused by the last flood, and of course the amazing view of the bluffs on the side of the river. The last picture is me showing off my new scientific find, a drippy rock. (Rocks that have dips and groves from being dripped on for so long.)

The next collage consists of the root wads that now litter the river banks and the land around the river. Since the last flood, there are hundreds of up-rooted trees that were carried who knows how far from the incredible powers of the water. I tried to get most pictures with people standing on or next to them to show their size. The one picture without anyone in it, is a root wad that was stuck probably 15 feet up in a tree.

I know one of my favorite things to do at the river is to get lost in the rocks. I could sit on the banks, listening to the sounds of the river, and just look at all of the amazing rocks that lay there. Some look like faces, others look like there were leaves pressed on them, and some are just neat and unique looking! The one in the middle just made me think of a crack... although not a butt crack... Haha! There was also a really neat rock that @hangrydwarf found with a crystallized fossil inside. Very cool!

And last but not least, I have a collection of pictures that I didn't find until I got home and started looking through my pictures... This is what I get when I give my husband the phone to take a picture of me. Thanks babe... you definitely brighten my day.

I hope that you have enjoyed the tour of this part of the Jacks Fork River. We are so very lucky to have this and other amazing rivers so close to where we live. Fishing, swimming, hiking, floating, caves, wildlife, plants, and so much more that we have thanks to these rivers. And during the summer it is a life saver when those summer days get to be so hot! Plus there is always something active to do around here, and I am very thankful of that!
