A reflection of how life has been treating me lately...

in #family6 years ago

Today was a beautiful near 60 degree sunny day here in Missouri. So my good friend @hethur240 suggested taking a hike before the weather turns colder. So she, my husband @hangrydwarf and I went down to Ebb and Flow (part of the Jacks Fork River about 5 minutes from my house). We hiked to the river and just sat around looking at rocks and the amazing nature around us. So my day started out very relaxing and fun.

(More pictures on this hike coming soon in my next walk with me post!)

So of course after a long nice hike in nature, my husband and I were hungry so we decided to get lunch in town. While sitting at the table ordering our food, my youngest son's school nurse called informing me that he was feeling funny and that his heart rate was staying at or above 150! So naturally we picked him up and took him to the ER. Now as some of you may not know, here's a bit of the back story. My son was born with heart complications. He has a bi-cuspid valve that leaks along with a hear murmur. His condition was found only hours after he was born and we were flown to Springfield first and then to St. Louis for a surgery to expand his valve, which was all they could do for this condition. Needless to say, he has been great ever since then and just a normal little boy. Until today... And the thought that his heart was acting up, is a scary thought in daddy and mommy's mind. He was super freaked out as well.

I could tell on his face how concerned he was, which was just plain amazing to me considering he is only 6, but well aware of things that no 6 year old should be... His anxiety was helped by promises from me that we were going to figure it all out and he was going to be ok. Plus I had to promise to never leave his side. And I mean... come on... of course I wouldn't leave! So he was hooked up to a heart monitor and checked out by the doctor. He was showing a fever, which he hadn't had all day and they explained that sometimes a fever, well actually the viral infection that is causing the fever, can cause higher heart rates in some. So they tested him for the flu, which was negative! Thankfully after some tylenol and rest he was able to come home. Heart attack number 50 billion and I don'e even know how many for mom...

So now we are home and relaxing. A little more medicine to keep the fever at bay, and he was out. So I decided to unwind and surf on Steemit, also watching the live feed of @jessamynorchards album release on Facebook! It is days like this that just send me for a whirl... great one minute, and stormy weather the next. Thankfully I'm working on my sea legs and thanks to the amazing family and friends I have, I'm able to stay strong and be there when it means the most to my family. I hope you all had a beautiful day, and remember to be thankful! It can all disappear at any moment...

Thanks for looking and hope to see you again soon!

Glad your big guy is doing alright, he's a trooper.

He sure is. 💚 Thank you!

I'm glad your son was okay. I myself spent the first 4 years of my life in a children's hospital due to Cystic fibrosis, and a laundry list of allergies. I don't remember much from that time but what I do remember was sort of like being tortured in a medieval prison.

Thank the gods he was alright \m/

Dude... I can imagine... He seems to be doing better so far! So fingers crossed... And thanks!
