Steem and Dtube have NEVER been Solely Based on this. Newbs will Fail if they Believe So !!
I originally thought when I joined Steem that it was a Content Dumping Site where I could earn $50 to $100 per Article posted. You see , I had an online friend and business Associate who informed me that I could do this as he was doing it regularly.
When prices of Steem stabilized and turned south boy was in for a rude awakening. His $50 posts were now averaging 2 to $4 an article.
And he ended up quitting altogether because of this.
I soon learned that Steem and Dtube are more than just about Content. It's about building Relationships and Networking with people. And being part of a Community or Tribe and growing that way.
Content and producing good Content is still very Important. But it's just one of the proverbial "cogs in the wheel" here at Steem and Dtube/

You're right and people will learn that in their own time. I enjoy posting and the thought of being able to rescue my original investment by engaging makes this fun. Those who lost in btc either lost for good or have to wait for it to rise again. Having said that, had I never sold all my btc for steem and just held btc, I would be ahead lol. But steem is fun. If it gets back to 50 cents I will be whole again and would have had a lot of fun meeting people. But still nobody really votes for my content but there are fun ways of going it alone with dapps so it's all good.

That really was a huge slap in the face wasn't it? Sad thing is I never had a post that earned that much back then. It would have been cool if I had been able to build something then to sustain me through this period. I love the community interaction, but there are some days I ask myself "why am I doing this?"
