It's Carnival time, time for fun and donuts!

Finally it's here, the craziest an funniest time of the year - Carnival. Apart from the creation of original costumes, carnival days are also known for delicious and famous sweets, donuts.

American donuts can be found in any colour and shape with a lot of decoration on it, but in Croatia a donut means only one thing - round piece of dough filled with jam or chocolate.

Donuts can be found in every pastry shop. I visited a pastry shop that has a long tradition in Zagreb. The best recipes, as they claim, are the simplest one. All you need is flour, milk, eggs, yeast, oil, lemon zest and rum. The main point is to leave the dough to rise long enough.
They must be baked in hot oil on each side.

The further we go with decoration is to sprinkle donuts with powdered sugar :=))
