The festival of Makar Sankranti is celebrated in India with great enthusiasm.Kite is spread in many places on this day.The festival of Makar Sankranti is celebrated when the Sun comes on Makar zodiac.This festival falls on the fourteenth or fifteenth day of January, because on this day the sun enters the sagittarius amount and passes into the Capricorn. From the day of Makar Sankranti, the succession of the sun begins. Therefore, this festival is sometimes called Uttarayaniyani. In Tamil Nadu it celebrates Pongal as a festival, whereas in Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, it is called Sankranthi only.
