I had seen this boat a couple of days before at Hemingway Marina, Havana, Cuba, so I planned to take a photo of it at dusk. To get the boat and sunset correctly exposed I needed a flash, so when the day came I tested the remote triggers and checked that the batteries were charged.

I also decided to bring my friend to help me with the lighting. So we left for the marina but once we arrived we decided to have a couple of beers just to lift our spirits. The problem was that I miscalculated the sunset, so we hurried to the boat as fast as we could to mount and test the lighting.

To my consternation the remote triggers didn't work, how strange, I tried them before leaving. I checked transmission and reception were correct, turned off and on the camera and the flash, took out the batteries and exchanged them to no avail.

Finally, I deciphered the conundrum, I had the remote trigger backward. By now the sun had almost set. There was my photo of a boat at twilight.

It was then that my friend decided to pose and I resolved to go with the flow to at least have fun for a while. I was astonished by the results, something I had not even planned. The idea was his.
