Abandoned Shit Weekly Contest - №.5 - Overgrowth.
Feb. 15 - Today I joined Forest & Bird down at "Fernbird Flat" in the Harbour View Reserve. Each year the workers at Forest & Bird head down to the reserve to weed and remove the overgrowth of grass which grows in and around the native shrubs being planted in the area. It is essential they are removed to enable the shrubs to grow upwards towards the sun than to be drag down by the weights of the weeds. The aim is to bring the New Zealand's native Fernbird closer inland where they will be more shelter and safer within the shrubs than out on the coastline where they are currently residing
Forest & Bird are a hands on conservation group, who encourage volunteers to be the change and involve themselves in all types of activities to better our environment.
good post !!
thanks
