As you may know the Turmeric (Curcuma longa) a plant from the family of Ginger, has a lot to offer about its healing property. The Turmeric plant comes at the origin from India, where it is commonly used in Indian cooking, It is used in the Ayurvedic medicine and also in the traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years.Today it grows all around the globe where the temperature allows it. The Turmeric plant is used in two way.The leaf and the rhizome.

The leaves also call Haldi leaves is a very aromatic herb and it is used a lot in Indian, Thai, Chinese and Malaysian cooking. It is also used to make curry powder. The leaves are also used in Spa all over Asia and in the cosmetic industry. I’ve seen some using it like a poultice on eczema or skin spot, also as an antiseptic.

The rhizome or the horizontal part of the root. This is the part of the Turmeric has a lot to offer. It looks little like a Ginger root but little smaller and with an orange color inside. It can be found as a root or as a powder. This is one of the strongest natural antioxidants. Its active element is the Curcumin.

The Turmeric is widely used as a preventive medicine. One of its first quality is to be an anti-cancer, it is also a powerful boost for your immune system, strong anti-inflammatory properties. It can be helpful for cases of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. It is also used to reduce the sugar for diabetes.
One thing to know when you want to use Turmeric for its healing properties, it is the fact that Turmeric is not well assimilated by our organism, when you eat it a tiny part of it will have effect on your organism. If you use the Turmeric with black pepper it will be much more efficient and its healing power much stronger. The black pepper help it to be assimilated in your body.

So you will get all the benefit of the curcumin, this is how it works but many people believe Turmeric alone work good, this is not true. I will make a serie about Asian traditional medicine by food and plants. Thank you

Great post! Turmeric is fantastic for inflammation..I used it when I had my back injury two years ago.

Thank You, happy that you enjoy it. Use it with black pepper to get the full strength of the curcumin. It works less than 20% without Black-Pepper. I will start a series about traditional Asian healing with food and plants. See Ya
