SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORKING
SOCIAL MEDIA

Communication is a fundamental need of humans today. Hence, the desire of most enlightened individuals to identify with any social media platform that enables them be as expressive, associative and as interactive as they can be.
The gradual yet explosive technological transformation of communication and information media also makes is a necessity to move with the times, when it comes to information dissemination and communication.
Various social media platforms exist today. Some platforms emerged in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, generated lots of rave commendations, grew popular amongst target users, created so much enthusiasm in the new information and communication age, but eventually fizzled out. Some others got launched with more sophisticated algorithms, upgraded programming structures, enhanced connectivity and digital systems, and have been doing well over the years.
The social networking platforms have grown massively over the years, and according to a statistics by Statista, about 2 billion users used social media apps and platforms in 2015. Statista projects that the number could increase to over 2.6 billion by next year, 2018.
For social networking geeks and enthusiasts who love networking and connecting with people, below is a list of the top 60 social media platforms as at early 2017 that might appeal to you.
Some of these sites are super popular, while others are relatively unknown, so I'm quite sure this list and links, would come in handy to some people, if only for the sake of curiosity.

Some of these social sites and portals are still growing strong, as can be proven statistically, while others are struggling so hard to stay relevant and deal with the massive competition posed by top platforms; hence the unavailability of relevant info about them.
Another plus for some of the top platforms is their initiative to integrate their website platforms with mobile compatible messengers, giving the users a feel of an endless ever-present connectivity and online presence.
Well, if you are a social media or online networking freak interested in dating, blogging, sharing photos, playing games, making friends or socializing? Then I bet the above social media platforms would be of great benefit to you.
As for our dear Steemit, it currently has my full and undivided attention these days, unlike any of these others sites. If you a fan of the whole social media integration, kindly let me know how many of these social media portals you use and really like. Thanks for reading.

Congratulations! This post has been upvoted from the communal account, @minnowsupport, by Rickie from the Minnow Support Project. It's a witness project run by aggroed, ausbitbank, teamsteem, theprophet0, someguy123, neoxian, followbtcnews/crimsonclad, and netuoso. The goal is to help Steemit grow by supporting Minnows and creating a social network. Please find us in the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Network (PALnet) Discord Channel. It's a completely public and open space to all members of the Steemit community who voluntarily choose to be there.
Have to check funny and die...many platforms don't knw.. I have befriended fb too due to steemit:)
Ok, cool. 'Funny or die' is quite a comical site. You might find it interesting.
Where is my quora on that list? Nice article :)
Thanks, Boss!
Quora seems more educative, than a social networking tool, to me though!
I network with nerds then. Lol.
Lolz...
Steemit is topping for now on my side
Yea.....I'm rolling with steemit for now.
Yeah oh. Who facebook epp. Steemit's value proposition is definitely better than that of MySpace. So 20 million active steemit users is a very realistic target.
A reason I think steemit is becoming less interesting in terms of rewards. If steemit reaches even 1million users, what will happen to rewards putting in mind steemit practically generates money from thin air??
Well the idea is that increase in user adoption would lead to increase in the price of steem , that means everyone's upvotes would be worth more and therefore posts will get more rewards even with less upvotes
That should be the idea. But let us see it from economics point of view, if the fed keeps printing money, what happens to the value of the money?? Inflation!!
If you don't agree with me, check the trend of steem's price.... many see it as going up but it isn't. All cryptos came up because BTC rouse from 600+ to 4000+. Most of them still have the same price in btc. In fact steem is almost 1/2 compared to june yet maintains it $1.3-1.6. I know you are into stats, you will get be better.
The structure of the platform is to diminish like btc mining rewards diminish... you cannot keep printing money into an economy, rather you can transfer from one sector to another.
Lol as if you know what's on my mind
Lolz....... Yes o! And such a population of active users would mean sweet growth in the value of steem as well.
Na steemit and telegram plus Twitter I dey sleep these days o. Who Facebook epp. I kinda noticed that the kinds of minds you meet on this various platforms differ greatly
True...different mindsets exist on social media.
If i get someone with accounts on all these platforms, I shall give up my steemit rewards for next 61payouts....Who is up for the challenge??
@rickie where is steemit??
Seriously? Accounts on all which platforms
Bring it on! But remember we are naija guys
