Did you know? Chronic cough is linked to iron deficiency!

in #health7 years ago

So says Caterina Bucca, M.D. associate professor of pathophysiology, University of Turin, Italy.

She found that dietary iron deficiencies can activate inflammatory proteins call cytokines.

These proteins make the lungs vulnerable to irritation, resulting in a telltale cough.

But after a month of treatment with mega doses of ferrous sulfate, 63 percent of women with a chronic cough saw their symptoms disappear.

However this treatment should be discussed with your doctor to avoid possible side effects.
