3 Types of Modern Parents
There’s no doubt that each family is quite unique as it has its own rules, traditions, manners and other peculiarities. Thus parents use different methods and approaches upbringing their children, communicating with them and forming the particular model of behavior. Another important criterion is the number of children in a family that determines experience and, as a result, the basic strategy of parenting. How come it’s viewed as a key factor? The thing is that with practice mom and dad get a really huge dose of reality and they raise the first, second, third child in a completely different way.
So, here come the three types of modern parents:
- The newbies.
- The realists.
- The pros.
The Newbies: Pioneers’ Experience
These are the parents who always prefer to keep the baby’s gear close at hand and to give the child as much attention as they can. They are eager not to touch, but talk to their youngling with delight and chariness. And be sure the so-called newbies have three different Teddy Bears in a toy box: the sleeping, comforting and playing ones.
Parents with the only child are not inclined to use childcare services, at least for a long time. They try to take care of the kiddy in every possible way: helping to do the homework by the last dot, carefully packing the lunchbox and making the child’s hairstyle with every strand in its right place.
The Realists: What Changes with the Birth of the Second Child?
With that event there comes the bracing splash of reality as the sweet period of the first child upbringing is over. The process is not scheduled anymore–it slowly turns into some sort of chaos. Mom and dad with two children enjoy the rare spare time to nap while babies sleep or watch a new cartoon on TV.
Once in a while the realist parents use childcare as afterschool activity. Still they believe that only close friends and family can handle it, but a responsible teenager can do that job too. When it comes to school tasks issues, the older child is a real lifesaver who knows teachers’ demands and can help the sister (or brother).
The Pros: Three or More Kids
These parents are brave souls who know about parenting almost everything. Though their house isn’t that 100% neat and shining, the schedule is planned minute by minute. And the most important thing is that it’s to be followed as successfully as possible (just don’t forget Billy at the playfield!).
As for children’s clothing it’s hand-me-downs as the younger kid has the older siblings’ wardrobe. And of course, if a kid doesn’t put the laundry in a basket in time, he wears whatever he can find.
The pros parents plan their time effectively and they definitely can plan the day knowing how to free some time.
Many changes in family life come with the birth of a baby. And having two or more children definitely means getting much more skilled and going through certain changes. So, if you have kids I would love to hear about your experience.

I could only cope with 2 lol congratulations on your lovely family :)
Thank you so much :D
Four kids here, @richman. We all start out as the parents who are sure they don't know what they are doing. But as the years go by, we get only a little wiser. ;) The more kids you have, the less likely you are able to be the hovering type. It's not possible. Thanks for making me smile here!
You are always welcome, dear lady :D
Thanks for your comment!
By the way, I can imagine how valuable your posts about parenting could be ;D

(shrug) I'm the oldest of five. My mom had six brothers and sisters. My father in law had a BUNCH of brothers and sisters...ten or twelve? I talked to his mother back in the day. She stayed pregnant her entire adult life almost. She started having kids at sixteen and she was considered to be an old maid at the time because she got married so late. (about 1910).
Time change.
Indeed! These days only some of my friends have three kids ;D
Nice post!
