"Desperate Times..."

in #christmas7 years ago

[I totally drew that zombie and candy cane zombie snake using a free program on my phone. Dec. 2018!]

My wife and younger daughter were out shopping most of the day today, but when they got home, my wife realized that they forgot to get cat litter. (That's not good...)

Naturally, Mariah didn't want to go back into the maelstrom, so she sent me to a local department store (where kitty litter is on sale.) I grudgingly agreed. (It was only fair.) And what I saw at that store was a horror show...

Desperation has set in. People are panicking. The JOYOUS HOLIDAY IS UPON US!!! The store was swarming with frowning people looking for last minute gifts and fixings for feasts.

I saw one woman with mussed hair, wearing pajamas, and suffering from what looked like pink eye, practically scream to nobody in particular, "Where do y'all keep your Worshter-Shore sauce???" in a thick, southern accent. (We are in Washinton State, which is about as far NORTH as you can get with visiting Alaska...)

Luckily, I can shop like a ninja (even without a shopping icon---I didn't have time to draw one for this trip,) and I was able to get in there, quickly, and grab the three products on my list, and then get to the self-checkout without any blood spilled or lives lost.

I'm not going to follow in Charlie Brown's shoes and say that the holiday has become too commercial because I think the trappings of the season are a hoot, but I am going to suggest that folks calm the heck and try not to get so frazzled. I know I'm equally guilty of getting panicky, (see my freak out chronicled in a post from a week or so ago---it's too late for anyone to vote for it for dough, but the words are still readable,) so I'm hoping to give my lucky readers a bit of advice from a fellow sufferer.

If YOU are starting to feel overwhelmed, take a deep breath and say to yourself, "It's the happiest season of all---and THANKFULLY, it's almost over!!! Everything goes back to being boring again in just a few days...

[Still drawn by me, but digitally "bleached" for some reason...]

Keep your head up! We're gonna get through this!!!
