Graffiti : Collective Art
Where a 'Tag' appears tend to appear several, as an assembly of strokes of different styles, a conglomerate of anonymous artists addicted to adrenaline, transforming the language of the walls, the streets and the city; spreading in the culture and the system.
Graffiti is a great example of collective artistic expression. There is no plan, painters appear at different times surrounded by different elements each time and warned in case of police.
Consciously or unconsciously the maker of each fraction is seeking harmony with the other pieces of its context, the degree of meditation of a stroke can highlight or completely ruin a wall, and these plastic improvisations require sensitivity and experience on the part of the artist.
The appearance of the phenomenon depends on the feasibility of the place, its monitoring and visualization, also the materiality of the surfaces is key.
These are photographs taken in my locality San Antonio de los Altos, Miranda, Venezuela; with an Olympus SZ-12 camera.
The serie is a selection of those walls and objects that could best express the purpose of this essay.
It can be thought that there is a certain respect on the part of the graffiti street artists, aka the 'vandals' when sometimes, as a code, they avoid painting in houses, for example; They look for public places or government properties, frequent abandoned houses, alleys, water tanks and public sports courts.
I believe that this collective value of graffiti expresses a socializing will and a meeting of purposes, the transformation of the walls of the city in the canvases of society.
Thanks for reading and happy day!
