How can one overcome the fear of loss? Can it be done? Is it really possible to overcome loss aversion? The answer is YES and in this article we will explain the steps on how to overcome fear of loss.


First, you should understand the fact that fear of loss is something deeply rooted in the human species. It is a survival mechanism that protects us from potentially dangerous circumstances. In fact, most people are naturally afraid of losing everything they currently possess. However, when the possibility of losing something extremely valuable to you arises and you are not equipped with any type of anxiety relief, then your natural reaction will be to avoid the situation altogether and not to acknowledge it's a possibility at all.

You need to dispel this fear. Don't allow yourself to dwell on the undesirable outcome. Rather, face the reality that you are mortal and have to deal with inevitable facts. Overcome this fear by reminding yourself that all things are ephemeral. The moment you realize this, you will feel less anxiety and your focus will shift to what's important.

Overcoming fear of losing something is easier said than done. It takes practice, discipline and patience to be able to do so. This is the reason why most people who suffer from fear of losing something put up some kind of performance art or contest to divert their attention from the topic at hand. It is a psychological trick used to distract you from thinking about losing the thing at hand. In the same manner, you can also perform any other distraction like reading a book or watching a movie. By doing so, you will be able to change your focus to something else.

As an emotional tool, music has been known to help people conquer fear. There are two types of music that have been found effective in tackling this problem. One is instrumental music that has the capacity to take your mind off the subject matter while the other one uses lyrics and rhythm to create a link between the past and the future.

Fear of public speaking is probably the most common fear that most people suffer from. However, this should not discourage you. There are several ways to overcome this. One method is by taking a public speaking class wherein you will be taught how to be confident when giving presentations. On top of that, you will learn how to give powerful speeches that will allow you to overcome your fear of being out in public.

Another technique to combat fear of speaking in public is through visualization. This technique involves looking at a specific picture of something that you want to accomplish. For instance, if you want to become an actor then look at successful actors in films. Try to copy their appearance as closely as possible. Doing this repeatedly will make you see yourself in a similar manner within your mind.

If you really want to go on and overcome your fear of speaking in public, you must practice. You can practice for anything. Practicing in front of a mirror is one of the best things that you can do. By looking at yourself in the mirror while speaking, you will become more comfortable with your appearance. Just imagine the look on the audience's faces when you walk up to them and begin your presentation.

One thing to keep in mind when overcoming your fear of public speaking is that it is not always wise to confront people when you do not know what they are going to say. Sometimes it is better to remain quiet and reserve your comments for a later time. In fact, many speakers take advantage of this rule. They will start to speak about something that caught their attention but then slowly build up to talk about something else. You can follow this same strategy to build your confidence.

Something that most people do not do enough of is to listen carefully to what the speaker is saying. Listening to someone is an important skill when it comes to public speaking. Without careful listening, you will find yourself interrupting the speaker and talking over them. Do not let this happen to you. Try to listen carefully to everything the speaker is saying. Try to remember key points that he or she may have left out.
