Control Over Your Attitude: 3 Ways To Win Big In Life

Your attitude determines the direction of your entire life. You must determine your attitude to be actually in control of your own life. Whether you have an upbeat positive or negative outlook, your attitude will and can shape your entire life. Unfortunately, however, not everyone has an uplifting and optimistic attitude. This is where the need to control your attitude really comes into play.


When you have a negative attitude, you become very "stuck" or "puny." The law of attraction states that whatever you focus on becomes your reality. Your attitude has a direct effect on the state of your mind and the reality you experience. A negative attitude creates negative thoughts and feelings, which create negative feelings and thoughts, and so on.

One way to gain total control over your attitude and life is to become a "born winner." Some people refer to people who are born winners as having "the right stuff." In order to achieve total control over your attitude, however, you must first become a winner yourself. Won't this sound easier said than done?

Many people believe that all it takes to create a positive attitude and "the right stuff," is to concentrate on positive things, such as good things that happen to them. They believe that bad things do happen, but that if they focus on the good things, their negative thoughts will soon wash away. They also believe that to become a "born winner," all it takes is to do "the right thing," which means doing the right thing with no emotional input. However, if we examine the lives of those who have been labeled as "born winners," we see that these individuals are more aware of what they do have power to control than the people who believe that luck is a part of life and that it's up to them to make it happen. True enough, many of these "born winners" also realized that they had to actively pursue their goals in order to succeed.

A major part of becoming a born winner is accepting that you cannot control everything, and then you can begin to work toward being in charge of everything that happens in your life by changing your mindset. Many "born losers" subscribe to the belief that it's only bad things that happen to them and that nothing that they do has any significant affect on the outcome of events. This type of thinking can be self-defeating because it prevents them from ever enjoying the fruits of their labor - good things. It is essential, however, that you realize that there will always be bad things that happen and that you should not lose track of the good things that have always occurred. By recognizing and accepting this fact, you'll be able to focus on the positives so that they won't be lost along the way.

Another essential component to being a positive person is recognizing when you've adopted an attitude that is not aligned with who you really are. You may find that you've adopted a negative attitude because you don't like what you're doing in your personal life or in your job, or you may feel trapped by unhealthy habits. Instead of adopting a negative attitude, spend some time reflecting on why you feel this way and figure out a way to adapt a positive attitude if necessary. While you may never regret having a negative attitude at some point in your life, having a negative attitude today will surely haunt you tomorrow.

Do you feel trapped by your past actions? Do you believe that you have done all that you can to avoid getting into situations that you don't know how to handle? Far too many of us remain stuck in a frame of mind that says we can't do anything right and we don't possess the skills or experience to overcome our perceived failures. These are the attitudes of losers, and while you may not be born a winner, you can certainly learn to become one by taking the time to reflect on your past choices and decide that you know how to make the decisions that will help you succeed in the future. Rather than dwelling on your past mistakes, spend some time reflecting on the positives in your past and determine how you can apply these same positive behaviors to your present choices.


Winners know how to make the choices that will enable them to pursue their goals, and they rarely lose sight of the fact that they have only one chance to make the right choices. Winners are not consumed with the fear that they might make a mistake or fail. Winners understand that failure is simply a way of life and they learn to rise above it by taking calculated risks and making informed choices. You can be a winner by adopting the attitudes of winners so that you can more easily put yourself in control over your future.
