Although it has declined significantly, there were once palm trees around every house in every corner of Bangladesh. But Faridpur and Jessore districts were famous for this palm tree. There were many palm trees in these two areas. Therefore, along with the date palm juice of these areas, date pulp was also very famous.

Delicious date palm juice is very fun to eat. The sight of someone collecting the sap from the tree early in the morning is amazing. The tree climbers climb each tree and come down with the sap-filled pot. Everyone can see how full the pot is. If the juice of every tree in a house is brought down like this, all the juices are collected and divided into two groups. The tree climber owns half of the juice, while the house holder owns the other half. Everyone in the house can drink juice from the householder’s share. Many people eat raw juice, and many people make cake (pitha) and pies and eat them. Both types of food are fun.

The famous date molasses (Gur) is made from date palm juice. Molasses (gur) is made by keeping the juice of dates in a large pot and burning it on fire, boiling it, and thickening it. Molasses (gur) comes in a variety of shapes and colors. Different types of cakes are made from this molasses (gur). Eating cake (pitha) and pies from molasses (gur) during the winter is a significant part of Bengali culture.
Palm trees are a boon to nature. The sap from this palm tree is naturally sweet. But day by day, these trees are gradually disappearing. We all should save these trees as a blessing from nature
