All-Time Favorite Guitarists!!! 🎸🎸🎸
I love playing the guitar. I have been playing for about ten years, but I tend to be very inconsistent (I’m trying to fix that). Today I would like to share who my favorite guitar players are. I will also provide an example of the respective guitarists work.
#1 Joe Pass
I firmly believe Joe Pass is the best guitarist of all time. He is definitely one the best jazz guitarists ever. Many people have disagreed with me, but I have yet to find another guitarist that has mastered the instrument at his level. Mr. Pass was a true virtuoso.
#2 Eric Clapton
Clapton is a blues master. When I think of 60s classic rock I think of him. His style has greatly evolved over the years but he always manages to make amazing music. I had the pleasure of seeing Clapton live in 2013 he is still an amazing player.
#3 Johnny Marr
If it wasn’t for Johnny Marr The Smiths would have never become what they became. Marr creates unique and melancholy sounds. I would love to find out what delay, tremolo and chorus pedals he used when he was in the Smiths. I see Marr as the Hendrix of indie/alternative music.
#4 Elliott Smith
I am obsessed with Elliott Smith’s music. His songs are full of emotion. At first glance his songs may seem simple but they always end up being complicated learn. He is the only reason I play acoustic guitar. You may have already heard one of his songs if you watch Rick & Morty.
# 5 Synyster Gates
Gates was my hero when I was a teenager (my emo days). Gates is the lead guitarist of my favorite hard rock/ metal band Avenged Sevenfold. What I like about gates is that he mixes different styles of music into his riffs and rhythm. I have seen Gates live four times and I have been impressed every time.
#6 Steve Ray Vaughn
SRV was the best blues player of later half of the twentieth century. His skill blew away his contemporaries. He lived a short life but he was able evolve and revive the blues. Thank you Guitar Hero III for introducing me to SRV!
#7 Tosin Abasi
When I first heard Animals as Leaders I was blown away! I thought the guitars were computer software and speed up! I consider the Abasi the most innovative and best player of the 21st century so far. He plays an 8 string guitar!!! There are no bass players in Animals as Leaders.
#8 Dick Dale
Dick Dale is the surf king. Misirlou is the “surf” song . If it wasn’t for him the Stratocaster wouldn’t have become what it is. He collaborated with Leo Fender in the early days.
#9 Jimmy Page
When I hear a Jimmy Page riff on the radio, I immediately start driving faster. His guitar playing is very raw. It is the perfect blend of old school blues and British rock.
#10 David Gilmour
When this guy plays he make feel like I am in space. I would describe has sound as psychedelic and nostalgic.
#11 Kurt Cobain
Nirvana is my favorite band of all time. Kurt was not the most talented guitar player, but he inspired me to pick up the guitar at a very young age. He created some of the best grunge riffs off all time.
