Steemmonsters - Diamond III was a tedious struggle (TBH)

View this post on Hive: Steemmonsters - Diamond III was a tedious struggle (TBH)

I've moved to Hive, along with most other people, following Justin Sun's takeover of Steem in the Spring of 2020. I believe hive is a lot more decentralised than Steem!

Sort:

'it's more of a compulsion rather than a pleasure!'

That sums things up nicely and I feel exactly the same. It's more like a daily ritual and yet I'm still doing it.. not sure why.

Is it FOMO?

I'm trying to get my return back to be honest. If the cards are from splinters I don't use, they get sold.

Same here! Much harder to offload the more expensive cards!

Oh most definitely!

That held me back from dumping @steem-ua for a bit, but I don't miss it now it's gone and I'm more in control of what I'm doing.

It is an odd one. There doesn't seem much point to it... you play so you can level up so you can get higher up the leagues and level up faster so you can level up faster.

But that's not quite correct is it... it's more like that's what you do to prevent yourself levelling up slower relative to everyone else. Which i think is what makes it a bit shit: it makes you feel like a pawn in someone else's game.

Of course all pay-to pay to play games are like that, it's just more obvious with steem, even though I'm sure that was never the reason it was created, it's what it feels like.

Im refusing to put any more STEEM into this or DrugWars. Most of the reward cards get sold now unless they are from my favoured splinters. Its a bit of STEEM that I can make while doing other shit on my computer.

SM can be played while multi-tasking.

Is there any pleasure or satisfaction in it at all? Does it trigger the dopamine/pleasure centres in the brain (as gambling/shopping does)? What is the compulsion about, what reactions is this type of activity inducing in the brain? All very interesting 😊

It is an odd one for sure... it feels more like work TBH..... play for 20-30 mins, get yer reward cards (earn some tokens effectively), level up, wait for the next daily rewards quest.

I'm with @slobberchops - I'll play this season but i don't really know why.

it feels more like work - yeah, I noticed that with some games I used to play. It started out a pleasurable way to spend coffee time, then took over! Had to go. Giving away your cards sounds good, though.

I was telling Chris about this yesterday - SM riding the top of the Dapps and then taken over by Drug Wars - interesting how the mind is captured! I think humans are curious and like to work out how things work, and then, ever inventive, work out ways to play the system.

Which I just signed up to - drugwars that is.

It looks fun, but it also has a 'clash of clans' feel about it, which is a shit game (and one I rapidly deleted from my iPad) because of the way it manipulates you into spending money to defend your territory against attacks, which is basically what drugwars seems to be.

but clever from a profit-making point of view?

For the makers of the games, quite possibly!

Although have you seen some of the payouts people are getting... 4 or 5 steem a day ATM without that much investment. I'm going to pay for some upgrades as soon as some of my SM cards sell!

hehe, @slobberchops was talking about the payouts (I think for drug wars). Not enough to entice me, though, even at 20 steem!
