I've moved to Hive, along with most other people, following Justin Sun's takeover of Steem in the Spring of 2020. I believe hive is a lot more decentralised than Steem!
I'm never in church either lol that made me laugh....and about engagement, I hear you, it's depressing when nobody comments. I had a few videos in the past with zero comments and I started to seriously question myself...thankfully Steemfest has changed that, but I hope it's a permanent change =)

I was a bit mortified when I played back and heard the sound quality (as if the videoing wasn't bad enough).
Im defo finding a post fest comment thing going on too!
But overall engagement is way down I think.

I can't buy 50 Steem per day; the trader I use requires a 100 Euro minimum for BTC. I attempt to buy at opportune times and have to make a judgement call as to whether I think BTC will go up or down. So far I've been wrong 100% of the time, but every day we are getting closer to me being right 100% of the time, lol!
The engagement @nathanmars is suggesting absolutely requires short duration videos. Imagine having to sit through 10 of my videos that take anywhere from 3 to 12 minutes? Most wouldn't have the time. I think Nathan resteeming all these videos is a great way to increase engagement as the time to search for material to watch has been reduced. Cheers!
It is hard to predict the bottom. I just recently watched something about this BCH 'war' which has made me hold off converting more fiat to btc.
Im currently buying steem with the dregs of various other coins I've got.

@revisesociology, Yes, i am not able to hear the audio but for sure in my opinion this is the time when we can accumulate some Steem and can power up, but yes, end of the day everything is depended upon affordability.

Commenting and engagement - I love doing it, but in order to properly engage, you need to digest a lot of content, and while I enjoy doing that, I only have limited time. This is a conundrum I'm struggling with on the Steemit platform.
If bloggers want to see a consistently large number of comments on their posts, they need to attract a niche audience that doesn't just give them regular upvotes, but actually takes the time to read/watch/listen to their content. This is a great incentive, to make your content so compelling that people can't resist interacting with it... or alternatively, if you're a whale, you probably get lots of comments from people who are trying to win your favour.
TBH if you can engage with as many people as @nathanmars is suggesting... 7 a day, you're doing yr bit... If everyone did that engagement would increase 10000% - or some massive %.

Buying 50 steem a day seems a good strategy, I hadn't thought about doing it that way. I was thinking more about a set amount of fiat each day, but this works, too :)
Or maybe that's better - set amount of fiat. Actually it's the same damn thing tbh!
