Yes, in many cases the mining is being done by children and under terrible conditions. Much like the reality of slaughterhouses catalysing vegans - the reality of mineral mining for those used in smartphones WOULD catalyse others to not use so much tech.. but few know at this point. I have certainly tried to buy the bare minimum new tech since learning of this about 10 years ago.
Yes I try and buy as little as possible.... but I just needed something which just works!

I have been there with BTC transfers. I will say to you, 'check tomorrow'. I use Etherium these days for my STEEM transfers.
I use ltc but I just happen to be getting rid of the last of my btc.

Interesting thoughts, I've added one or two to the thread. Steemfest was good for me, too, in that respect, getting a sense of the whole project, the people involved, the energy and willingness invested in trying to resolve problems. It made a difference.
Brexit continues to be embarrassing, but I was heartened by the environmental protests in London yesterday, closing down various bridges. There was a lovely photograph of one of the occupied bridges with people sitting down in deckchairs. I should have saved it when I saw it!
Yes true about the energy.... at least that's something a 1000 watt solar array can sort, and yr only buying the hardware once every couplr of decades or so.
I need to check out those protests. Got so out the loop with the news since SF3!
