Happy New Year Steemians! Lets kick off 2018 with a list of some fantastic NES game soundtracks you may have never heard. 8-bit and chiptune music is seemingly more popular today than it was 30 years ago, but most discussion involves the most common titles like Castlevania, Mario, Contra, Mega Man, Duck Tales and Zelda. Lets give some love to some of the most overlooked NES game soundtracks.

#5 Treasure Master

A game that almost never gets discussed, Treasure Master is famous for two things: the real-life treasure hunt contest that was the game's gimmick and the amazing soundtrack from the king of NES composers, Tim Follin.

#4 Pictionary

Once again, Tim Follin shows his mastery of the NES sound capabilities by cranking out an amazing soundtrack to a freaking board game based title that's all been forgotten.

#3 Journey To Silius

I did a review of this game not long ago, but I had to come back and sing the praises of this game's soundtrack. Its fits the theme of the game perfectly and holds up well today.

#2 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The most popular title on my list, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a pretty common staple in NES game libraries, but the fantastic soundtrack is hardly ever discussed. It doesn't even use the famous TMNT theme song, instead creating its own legacy with fun and memorable tunes that deserve more appreciation.

#1 Silver Surfer

I would arguably say this is the best soundtrack on the entire NES. From the arrangement of the tunes to the absolute mastery of the NES' sound capabilities, Tim Follin pushes the NES to its limit and makes it do what he wants it to do. Its simply amazing what he was able to do within the limits of this 8-bit system.
