Hello Steemit. Allow myself to introduce...myself
First of all, congrats to anyone who got the Austin Powers reference.
I'm Ben, otherwise known (or unknown) as Retro Room. I'm an aspiring, but camera-shy YouTuber who has the knowledge and desire, but lacking the time to operate a channel focusing on the hobby of retro video games, particularly the collecting aspect.
You see, I adore video games, particularly the old ones I grew up with. I've been collecting Nintendo, Sega, Atari, Playstation and everything else for about 15 years and have amassed a collection nearing 2000 games.
The hobby has exploded over the past few years, bringing lots of new collectors into the hobby and sending prices skyrocketing. I keep an eye on trends, prices, overlooked games and every other aspect of the hobby and offer my advice, tips and tricks.
I'm also into modern gaming, mostly Nintendo platforms, so I'll chime in from time to time on my thoughts on modern gaming news.
Aside from gaming, I'm also very much into personal finance. Naturally, I'm a fan of the cryptocurrency scene, but I'm also interested in investing and frugality. I won't hide from the fact that I'm frugal (which isn't the same as being cheap) and I'll be posting about various ways I've found to save money as painlessly as possible. After all, every dollar you don't spend is more you have to invest in the stock market or cryptocurrencies.
I can't wait to get started on this platform and I hope you follow along with me.
Hi Ben, nice to meet you. I love your gaming collection. I'm a gamer as well. I followed you. It has been a long time since I've seen those Nintendo boxes and it brought memories of my childhood. I wish I kept all my old games. I'm still a gamer though and I have a pretty nice collection. I love that my son has gotten into gaming and he likes the classics. I look forward to your gaming posts!
Thank you. I have games I've regretted selling as well (mostly Guardian Heroes), so I pretty much hoard everything now. Thankfully, my wife is OK with my addiction.
When I started collecting games, I focused mostly on NES and only bought them in the box, so I've got a lot of complete/boxed games, but at the same time I passed on some loose carts that I'm kicking myself for not grabbing when they were 10% the price they are today.
