Voting for yourself on Steemit should be insurance, not extra! (MUST READ - IMPORTANT)

Hey Steemers!

I think this is a very good idea that should not be too hard to implement. It would make the community a lot fairer and mean more rewards in the hands of new users:

To put it simply one should be allowed to vote for themselves BUT this vote should be eaten into by votes from others.

Let's use an example whereby the user in question's vote is currently worth $1.

  • The user submits a post they are proud of and has taken time, they upvote it making their post worth $1.
  • Scenario A - No one else votes - There post is still worth $1.
  • Scenario B - They receive 4 other votes worth $0.10 in total, this eats into their own vote making their post still worth $1. (Their vote is now worth only $0.90).
  • Scenario C - They receive 6 other votes worth $1 in total, these votes completely wipe out their own vote and their post is still worth $1.
  • Scenario D - Their post is a success they receive 20 other votes totaling $20, their vote is wiped out making their post worth $20.
  • If their vote is reduced or wiped out the voting power returns to them.

This has to be the fairest way for things to be done. People who invest in Steem and power up can still be confident in their investment but those who get lots of big weight votes AND upvote themselves will earn less. This should increase the reward pool.

Comments are another issue :)

Very interesting friend.

Thanks, it seems like a very logical move to me.
