Show of Shame

Manchester United crashed out of the Champions League in disappointing fashion as Sevilla left it late to stun the home side 1-2 and progress to the Quarterfinals of Euro's biggest club competition.

It was a lacklustre performance from Mourinho's United and they were very lucky Sevilla did not take advantage of some epileptic displays and mistakes in the first half.

Both United and Sevilla failed to get it right in the final third, losing out balls easily without causing any threat, although Sevilla looked the more composed side in a first half that was begging for a cutting edge.

With about 20 minutes to force the game into extra time, Vicenzo Montella pulled a subtitution that seemed to change the face of the game wholly. Wissam Ben Yedder came on for Muriel who had struggled on the night and few minutes after coming on, the French striker scored a well worked goal in the 74th minute, before finally nailing the coffin with a header 4 minutes later. Romelu Lukaku pulled one back for United but it could do nothing to stop the Spanish side from progressing into the next round.

It was a match in which United were favourites, given Sevilla's poor run of form and poor defensive records but it turned out a Coach was more tactical and needed the win than the other as Mourinho once again proved his critics right by approaching the game with "too much" caution and leaving creative players like Juan Mata and Anthony Martial who could have won the game for him on the bench. Paul Pogba once again had a nightmare of an outing.

It's unbelievable to see how Mourinho can mess up a team and players. Very sad to see players lose their joy of playing the beautifull game.

Sad truth of who he is. Mike Obi's career is one Nigerians would never forget so soon. He turned a creative mind to a log of wood.

Yes indeed, that's a good example. I remember the first time I saw Obi play, it was at the under 20 World Cup in 2005, he was the engine and creativity of that team, who finised second after Argentina (with Messi, Aguero, Gago and Biglia).
As a Belgian, I was very gutted of his last season at Chelsea, where he let Hazard play more as a left back instead of a winger. The poor magician had to run more from the ball instead of with the ball :-(.
