Drop Zone Watch: Brighton Stiffle Spurs

Brighton moved a step closer to survival after drawing one all with Tottenham in what is their 8th home draw this season.

The home side came into the game on a back of four games without a win and Tottenham were looking to bounce back from their 1-3 home defeat in the hands of Champions elect, Manchester City.

Tottenham took advantage of a defensive slip to take the lead just three minutes after the break when Harry Kane pounced on a loose ball from Heung Min Son to fire home his 26th league goal of the season.

Brighton however responded swiftly and Spurs lead lasted only about 148 seconds before Serge Aurier clumsily brought down Jose Izqueirdo in the penalty box. Pascal Gross converted from the spot as Hugo Lloris' hand on the ball couldn't stop it from entering into his bottom right corner.

The draw leaves Brighton in 13th position, 8 points above the bottom three and with just 12 points to play for, their hopes of survival are very strong.

Tottenham on their side are left 8 points ahead of 5th placed Chelsea albeit having played a game more and the Blues will be looking to take their chances in qualifying for next season's Champions League
