The reason why I am powering down this account, why I will continue doing so even after hardfork and why I think you would do the the same :)

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

A lot of time passed since my last post and now I will partially explain the reason.

Maybe you heard about upcomming changes in next hardfork? A lot of people are very optimistic and hope that this will help Steem Economy. You Really think so?

Personally I am pretty sure.... that this will help Steem a lot :) Wait... what?

Yes, I think Steem have a great future ahead of it, but still I have a great reason to power down this account, and the reason is simple: this account do not belongs anymore to original owner - @repholder. This fact was already mentioned here, but I think even a lot of repholder's original followers didn't noticed that.

Who owns now this account?

If you already paid attention, you already should know from this:

Hello, I am @noisy

Who am I?

Somehow I still didn't write a proper #introducemyself post, and for sure I do not want to do this from this account... so I will keep it briefly:

I am this guy form picture above. I am from Poland, I am a software developer with 9 years of experience. I did not manage to come to SteemFest, but I had a pleasure to meet a lot of great people from steem/steemit community during Steem Hackaton in Oslo:

I also have a beautiful and brilliant wife which give a birth to our daughter 7 months ago - more or less in time when also Steem was born ;) That is IMO really good reason why I am not on steemit 24/7, but slightly less ;)

Nevertheless, I promise that this will be not excuse for me... and I should bring 2 very interesting projects to the light till end of this year - stay tunned ;)

Why I bought this account?

Basically reason is simple, I believe and believed in steemit more than repholder did. I noticed once, that repholder mentioned on steemit chat, that he want to liquidate steem power from this account. He offered some discount comparing to steem price back then, so I simply decided that this is a good deal for both of us.

From the beginning I decided to not pretend that I am repholder, and do not take advantage of that. Though, I have to admit that I resteemed 4 (not mine) posts in a day when resteeming feature was introduced - I was too excited about that :)

Also, knowing how Steem works, I decided that from the begging I will gradually move all funds to my main account - @noisy, to have a stronger vote.

I believe that I am one another example of "moving Steem to stronger hands" movement :)

What I will do with this account?

Probably after moving all SteemPower to @noisy account I will offer this account back to Repholder. I believe he might be interesting having back account with his nickname :) Knowing that after next hardfork rules of Powering Down will change, this account can be back in Repholder's hands in more or less 3 months.

I wondered about one another article which would be related to this account :

Detailed instructions how to safely sell/buy steemit account to/from someone else - case study - if you will be interested in such article, leave a comment and make sure, you will follow my @noisy account, because I will most likely publish it there.

If you liked this article, please consider resteeming it :) See you around here and on http://steemit.chat/

That's a pretty cool thing to do! Haha I remembered the transaction from steemit.chat, hence why I was surprise of the title xD

Hi @noisy - thanks for posting, I had no idea :)

@noisy, welcome and good intro on this account :)

Oh, I noticed that you weren't doing much curating yet. I've been using the Steemvoter.com service to support my favorite authors. Alternatively, if you wanted to, you could also setup an account over on Streemian and follow active curators. Some of the active curators with high %'s (on @furion's https://steem.li/curators) have their accounts on there so you could follow them.

hey noisy what price did you pay for the account?

I bought this account when Steem had evaluation of whole network equal to ~75M, and I paid more or less 50% of it's value. I paid ~5 BTC:

BTW. repholder decided to not use someone trusted by both of us as proxy and he also decided to send to me keys to his account first. So in theory I could easily run away with his account, his Steem Power and my 5 BTC... but I didn't ;)

So in theory I could easily run away with his account, his Steem Power and my 5 BTC... but I didn't ;)

technically he would've had 1 month time to re-deem his account with his old keys, I think. :P

as far as I remember that was before changes implemented after the hack ;)

interesting and a nice introduction. do you know what the new interest rate will be after hardfork?

as far as I know, this depends on witnesses.

Hi @nikflossus - which interest rate are you wondering about? There are actually quite a few (SBD interest, SP interest, overall inflation, etc) :)

The SP interest rate. Apparently it's about 350% P/A at present. I assume that's the one which has to be drastically reduced.

I think you are talking about the overall STEEM inflation rate, which is the rate at which they 'print' new STEEM to pay for Steem Power interest, witness/miner pay, content/curator rewards, etc. (it's currently very high, but I don't know the exact number. Around 350% wouldn't surprise me.)

This is being reduced to 9.5%, and will be further reduced by by 0.01% every 250,000 blocks (Roughly 0.5% per year) until it eventually reaches 0.95% in about 20 years.

The 9.5% is technically not 'exact' because when SBD is converted to STEEM it can end up creating more/less STEEM than calculated based on whether the SBD is above or below the value it was issued at. (It's complicated, but I'm just mentioning it so you know it isn't exactly the percentage that is stated.)

As far as the actual SP interest rate, out of the 9.5% inflation, 15% of that is allocated to SP holders.

The full details are here:
https://steemit.com/steem/@steemitblog/final-review-of-steem-economic-changes

Well I was more concerned on the rate at which SP earns interest, before and after the hard fork. There's no mention of how this figure is calculated.

Currently, Steem Power holders get 90% or 95% of the 350% inflation (or whatever the actual inflation number is). I believe it is 95%, but I'm not 100% sure.
