Human heater - Global warming

What is the Global Warming? Is there enough evidence to asseverate that we caused it?

There's archaeological registries around the world that show us that our favorite god was always the Sun. It is not wild to believe that the ancient civilizations thought that the shiny thing in the sky that gave us heat, made crops grow and washed away the horrors of the night, was a superpowerful entity that had plans for us. I grant them all the credit for this, at least it wasn't an invisible, intangible deity -This one actually DID things-.

Now that gorgeous heat the sun provided would've lasted nothing if it wasn't for the help the mass of gasses that surround our planet provided. Climatologists call it "atmosphere" and the pleb nicknames it (in a really short sighted point of view) "air". The atmosphere has its own evolutive history, that talks mainly about the perfect confluence of situations in which our beloved Bacteria participated from the first moment; and later vegetation integrated to complement the mix. All these wonderful living machines terraformed earth's environment in a way that they converted an atmosphere extremely toxic -as toxic the /general chat-, into another one rich in oxygen that we shall name "mitochondrialand". We all know that air has oxygen, and that it's way more important to be alive than love itself, but this is no reason to belive that it is the only gas. There's a bunch of Nitrogen, more than double than oxygen. These two fluids are the most abundant in our atmosphere and are spiced up with others in small quantities, like water vapor, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, argon (Son of Arathorn) and helium.

This story begins when at the guts of our dear sun a broad array of radiations are generated, they are shot in all directions and part of them arrive to Earth. As the enter the atmosphere, the radiations that have a wavelength of 400nm (UV) are absorbed by our invisible hero: the ozone layer (O3). The ones that pass that filter add up to their spectrum coworkers until they reach the surface, heating the ground and oceans, allowing the photosynthesis, out tanning and skin cancer; yet, a part of the ones that are ignored by the ozone are blocked by the clouds, reflecting them back into the limitless universe (just like they didn't let me go into the Pub because I was wearing Crocs). To this thermal radiation the one generated at the core of the planet is added, along with the temperature living creatures produce. The heat would escape quiclky if it wasn't for the atmospheric IRS that is commanded by the carbon dioxide and water vapor, that retain a lot of thermal IR and return it back to Earth in a sort of "pong" game among the Earth's surface and the atmosphere. This phenomenon is called, greenhouse effect, the absolute master responsible of us having an average 15°C temperature, without it our planet would cool down VERY fast, becoming a place colder than your ex's heart at -18°C.

Now, knowing this, evidence could show us that the real god our ancients should've adored wasn't the sun, but the holy carbon dioxide. Lets look at it this way: If we set radiation as a constant value, but we add greenhouse gases into the atmosphere we get as a result: A lot of people wearing tong and bikinis. This is happening since the Industrial Revolution. That allowed us to pass from a "low energy society" to a "high energy" one. As a result of chemical promiscuity, we acquired a LOT of energy, in exchange of carbon dioxide as waste, that as time passed by stacked in our atmosphere at an alarming rate, increasing the heat retention our planet has; this is anthropogenic global warming (This is to clarify that there's another NATURAL warming that is part of nature's cycle).

Now, there's always a tinfoil hat clown or Liberal Industrialist that says that everything is a conspiracy, that the global warming is only because of the solar activity and refuse to even read the data that has been gathered by thousands of scientists around the globe, NASA's opinion about the matter, and the worldwide consensus of all the academic institutions we could name.

According to the IPCC (a bunch of people that know another bunch of things), this is how Earth's temperature could be in a future depending on what we do about it.

Really, this is no joke, a simple 2°C temperature increase could be catastrophic, poles melting, sea level rising; coastal areas flooding, rain patterns changing (something that would complicate "a bit" our capability to produce food). At the rate we've set, we have a rather unhappy panorama ahead. And this problem's difficulty increases exponentially as we do nothing about it.

It's a matter of informing, will, request State policies that stop fornicating with companies for the sake of money, and finally marry science for the sake of a future, for the sake of a sustainable world.

I will post this xkcd link in every blog about global warming because it drives home the scope of the temperature change in the past 200 years.

Let me put that on top, since there's a very nice work in there.

It's what I have been showing to family members when they bring up global warming. Seems to do a better job then me talking about it... shrugs

EXCELLENT post. I've upvoted and followed you. Glad the true environmentalists are on Steemit. Thanks.

beautiful story, excellent post congratulations, thanks for sharing

Thanks for the lesson!

always good to see people awake and thinking. the post and most of the comments.
